Do you watch the show Pawn Stars? It’s one of our family’s favorites on the History Channel. Rick (the bald dude) owns a pawn shop (Gold & Silver Pawn Shop) in Las Vegas which he runs with his father (Old Man), son (Corey), and his son’s bestfriend (Chumlee). People from all over go there to try and either pawn or sell stuff for money… but they occasionally encounter rare and valuable items like Houdini’s jacket, treasure coins from under the sea, and a whole lot more. It’s a really interesting show that even our kids like watching. It’s actually the History Channel’s highest rating program.
We have two favorite shows on the History Channel — Pawn Stars and Kings of Restoration. Anyhow, last week while we were in Las Vegas, hubby and I decided to visit the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop from Pawn Stars.
Normally there’s a long line outside but we dropped by on a Monday afternoon so it wasn’t crowded at all. My mom and stepdad have tried a few times to visit and they haven’t been able to get in because of the line so we were very lucky.
As soon as we went inside, a familiar site greeted us. This is the very scene that is always shown on TV — lots of visitors poring through their items on display and looking around.
There was also a whole section on Pawn Stars souvenir items like these bobble head dolls.
There was a DIY photo booth where you could take a souvenir pic to upload to Facebook or Twitter.
Apparently it’s made for tall people because I was already on tiptoe and I still could not get past their heads in the frame, lol.
Hahaha, this is the closest I will get to Chumlee I guess. The guys weren’t in the shop when we went which was expected because I read that they don’t really mind the counter anymore except to shoot episodes.
Check out this antique banjo. It was featured in one of Pawn Star’s episodes. It was on display, for sale for a few thousand dollars.
Hubby and I simply punched in Gold & Silver Pawn Shop’s address on our GPS in order to get there, hehe. It’s located way past the strip but it wasn’t hard to find. Oh yeah, Rick’s Restoration is nearby so we went there too. I will post about it separately.
