I got my first pair of eyeglasses when I was maybe 20 years old. I was diagnosed with mild near-sightedness and astigmatism. No wonder there was a fuzzy halo around certain objects I would see, especially lights and light sources. My near-sightedness wasn’t really a problem. Instead of 20/20 vision I was 50/50. Not bad. Two decades later, I’m still 50/50. It’s the astigmatism that’s the problem. My focus isn’t so great because of those fuzzy halos. Do you know those lighted menu boards you’d see in fast food joints? It’s super difficult for me to read them without my glasses because of my focusing problem.
But then I got wind of an innovation that might just change that — Transitions® Signature™ Lenses. Yes, it’s those lenses which darken depending on the level of sunlight they’re exposed to. My mom and my father-in-law have been using Transitions for years. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it earlier on! Transitions lenses can be used by people of all ages, including children. In fact, it’s more convenient because you don’t need to keep changing glasses since they adapt to the lighting conditions. The possibilities are about as numerous as the number of frames available in the optical shop, and that’s a lot!
Here are some of the features of Transitions Signature Lenses:
- Block 100% of UVA and UVB rays
- Suitable for any age, including children
- Fully clear indoors and outdoors
- Fits any prescription and frame
- Fast fade back speed
Transitions® Signature™ Lenses are available in Brown and Gray, I chose Gray. 🙂
I’m super excited to put these glasses to good use! I do a lot of paperwork in the office and pretty much stay in front of the computer majority of the day so glasses are a significant part of my daily life.
Transitions® Signature™ Lenses use the Chromea7 Technology, a new exclusive photochromic dye formulation which makes these lenses more reactive to indirect light such as reflected light off surfaces like buildings, windows, and roads. These lenses are more reactive to UV light too. It was a cloudy day, I held out my glasses outside our bedroom window for less than 5 minutes and I was surprised that the lenses had already turned slightly gray when I put them on. I couldn’t tell from looking behind the lens that it was already turning gray because as you can see there’s virtually no difference between the color of the surroundings seen through my lenses. Everything is as rich, vivid, and clear as if I had perfect vision with no glasses on.
Yup, light gray for a cloudy day! I didn’t expect the lenses to darken just because I held them out the window but they did! I expect these to turn into a darker shade of gray if I were actually wearing them outdoors during a sunny day. You always get just the right level of tint needed to protect your eyes from glare. The Chromea7 technology I was talking about earlier actually makes these lenses more responsive in hotter climates so it’s well-suited for us who are living in the Philippines.
Transitions® Signature™ Lenses stay clear indoors.
I read that Transitions® Signature™ Lenses uses the Life360 Methodology in product testing. Instead of the traditional lab-testing, products’ real life performance is tested and measured in varying real life conditions (wearing a hat, facing the sun, etc.) around the world. You can actually check out how the lenses change and enhance vision in interactive environments plus see how the lenses look on the person wearing them at http://www.transitions.com/en-ph/products/transitions-signature/.
As for me, I’ve just started using Transitions® Signature™ Lenses. I’ll definitely keep you posted on how it goes. 😀
Transitions® Signature™ Lenses are available at leading optical shops nationwide.
