My daughter and I spent the long All Saints Day weekend in South Korea. I’ve always wanted to experience autumn in a country with four seasons and this was my chance since we were granted Multiple Entry Korean visas. I booked a Klook tour which would go to four places in one day — Nami Island, Italian Village, Le Petit France, and The Garden of Morning Calm. Our first stop was The Garden of Morning Calm.
It’s actually an arboretum, or a botanical garden that’s devoted to trees… though there were also a lot of flowers. The place is huge and there are multiple walking paths. It’s best to consult the map they give out so you can prioritize what you want to see. Our tour guide gave us pointers during the bus ride which parts of the garden she recommends and we pretty much followed her recos. We missed some spots but that only gives us another reason to go back. The garden changes every season so there’s always something new to see.
The Garden of Morning Calm really does live up to its name. It’s very serene and peaceful, perfect for long walks. Since it’s full of trees, the air is super clean and fresh.
This Korean Garden is the shooting location of the K-Drama “Love in the Moonlight” which I still have not seen, lol. Well, the garden does give off Joseon Dynasty vibes.
Though not all the trees were sporting red foliage, we did see a lot of red, orange, and yellow leaves. It’s breathtaking, something you need to see at least once in your life. Unfortunately, we’ll never see autumn leaves in our own country the Philippines.
We just had to pick up a bright red orange leaf and take a closer look.
This is the Millenium Juniper, estimated to be 1,000 years old. Our tour guide said there’s a saying that you will live a long life if you take a photo with it. I took a photo of it, lol.
We spent 2 hours here, after which we rode the bus to go to Nami Island which was our next stop. There are food stalls that sell street food and drinks near the entrance. My daughter and I actually ate Sotteok Sotteok (tteok and sausage skewer) there since we left at 7am and had no time for a proper breakfast. I have a video of our the garden HERE.
You can book a tour which includes The Garden of Morning Calm on Klook.
