What does it mean to be free to love? It means never having to give a thought to what other people may think. Closeup believes that everyone should have the freedom to love, regardless of gender, race, social status, age, or religion. Through the diverse stories showcased in the Free To Love campaign, the brand hopes to bring people closer together without doubts, judgement, or prejudice. Ultimately, we let love rule.
Actress Andi Eigenmann is one of the ambassadors for this advocacy. She packed up and left the chaos of Manila for a much simpler life in Siargao. It was there that she found love with pro surfer Philmar Alipayo. Andi shared that almost everyone questioned her choice… but eventually, love won.
Closeup held its #LoveRules Exhibit at the Maybank Theater in BGC. It featured colorful murals created by graffiti artist Jappy Agoncillo. Each mural had a specific message. Shown here is “True Love can start with one swipe”. This illustrates the use of dating apps. I know that there are those who frown on such apps but I also know people who’ve found love and happiness via the same apps. In the past, people would have pen pals or phone pals… this is kind of the same thing.
This is “Don’t let the years hold you back”, which apparently refers to age gaps. Dr. Vicki Belo and Dr. Hayden Kho come to mind. Nuff said.
For the LGBTQIA, we have the mural “Love is love regardless of gender”. Can’t help but think of Angie King and Joey Mead.
Aside from the murals, there was a panel discussion with Andi Eigenmann, Issa Pressman, Katz Salao, and EG Bautista.
