We had dinner with friends at Tajimaya in SM Mall of Asia one Saturday evening. Tajimaya is a Japanese grill place where you cook a variety of meats and seafoods on tabletop charcoal grills.
We got a long table for 8 people which came with two tabletop grills.
There’s a variety of sauces and condiments as well as a pair of tongs you can use for cooking. We all availed of Tajimaya’s P580 eat-all-you-can deal since it’s a lot more economical compared to ordering ala carte.
For P580, you get unlimited salad (mainly lettuce with vinaigrette dressing).
There are also single-serve appetizers consisting of beansprouts and kimchi.
You cook everything on a grill with real charcoal underneath.
The P580 eat-all-you-can deal includes unlimited Beef US Bara Karabi, Imported Pork (kind of like bacon),and Chicken.
This is beef when cooked. I drop everything straight into the dipping sauce while hot off the grill. It’s really good! I ate so much but the beef is so thinly sliced it feels very light and not at all overwhelming.
You also get unlimited Sausage and Fish Balls.
Shrimp too — so that makes six kinds of meats for grilling in all.
When you run out of stuff to grill, just tell the server what you want and they’ll bring out more of it. Personally I loved the beef, sausage, and pork. Oh and you’re served Japanese rice and bottomless iced tea to go with all the savory grilled meats. Yum!
I wish Tajimaya weren’t so far away because I definitely want to go back! Unfortunately, their One Rockwell branch doesn’t offer this eat-all-you-can deal. Darn I’m making myself hungry and it’s already pretty late at night as of posting time. XD
There were actually a lot of Japanese diners when we were there — this is something I consider to be a pretty good indication of a Japanese restaurant’s authenticity and quality.
