I’ve always wondered what goes on during Korean actor fan meets. K-pop band fan meets are like mini concerts, which is expected. What better way to find out than by buying myself a Diamond ticket to Park Hyung Sik’s SIKcret Time in Manila. But I was going ONLY IF I could be in the front row. Otherwise, no thanks. Anyhow I did end up getting my desired seat so I went to see my oppa last February 17, 2024 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The stage setup was better than I expected.
Lucky for me Park Hyung-sik used to be in a K-pop band, ZE:A so he sings. He actually had several song numbers during SIKcret Time. There were also games and a Q&A portion. Did you know that he never met Park Shin-hye during shooting for The Heirs? They didn’t have any scenes together so working on Doctor Slump is actually the first time he has met her! Personally, my favorite Park Hyung-sik series is Happiness. Oppa promised fans that he would work on more and better projects, but asked everyone to please support Doctor Slump until the very end.
Honestly I don’t think I will attend another fan meet because being on the front row is pretty hard to top. I was lucky this time that a friend helped me secure the ticket I wanted. I actually encountered fans who flew in from the US, Korea, and Japan wow. It’s extremely difficult to get good tickets to anything Korean.
Fans were asked to write questions on papers and then drop them in the box. Park Hyung-sik picked 4 questions to answer. It was quite informative. We found out that he’s quite the outdoorsy person — he likes scuba diving and golf.
For the finale he sang another song, “Because of You” from the Strong Girl Bong Soon OST. They even flashed the Tagalog translation of the lyrics behind him. All in all he sang about 6 songs — Justin Bieber’s “Off My Face”, James Ingram’s “Just Once”, “Breath”, and “Every Moment of You” from the My Love From The Star OST. Here’s a video compilation of him singing.
I got to see Park Hyung-sik up close during the Hi Bye Session and the Photo Op. Everyone was doing finger hearts and waves, I opted to give him an ok sign with my right hand and he okayed back so I knew it was for me. Nobody else was doing it lol.
He really does look every bit as good if not better than what we see onscreen. He sings really well too so it’s not far off from the K-pop fan meets I’ve been to.
Here’s the loot I got from the fan meet — a banner, poster, postcard with note, and 2 photo cards. I wasn’t too lucky during the photo op because it was done in groups of 15 and I did not end up beside PHS. Oh well.
