I went to the SM Megamall Fashion Hall one Saturday for the launch of RuMe Philippines’ first store in Manila.
RuMe is a line of imported reusable bags that are water-resistant, machine-washable, and foldable.
Aside from bags they have pouches called Baggies which can be used to store toiletries, snacks (they’re food-safe), and other miscellaneous stuff.
Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Taylor Lautner, and Rachel Bilson have been seen toting RuMe bags around.
Travel-friendly and lightweight, you can being these practically everywhere. A lot of shops these days charge extra for plastic bags so it’s good to be able to always bring your own bag. Besides, the last thing our environment needs is more waste in the form of plastic bags.
This is the RuMe Medium Spring 5th Avenue Bag. It can hold up to 50 lbs worth of items! It’s the perfect size when you’re grocery shopping, or just shopping lol.
One of the most memorable things at the launch were these Sticky Date Cakes. They’re sooooo good. The caramel and nut topping tastes like Almond Roca and the cake is super moist and chewy. I had two. If these were for sale I would’ve bought a box to take home. RuMe Philippines’ owner’s sister baked them. Really truly one of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten.
I got to take home a RuMe Medium Spring Greenwich Bag (P525, pictured above left) and a RuMe Baggie All Spring Greenwich (P525, pictured above right) as tokens for attending the launch.
The Baggie All’s design is quite ingenious, as the three zippers seal three separate compartments in one bag.
The RuMe Medium Spring Greenwich comes with instructions on how to fold it.
Then strap the velcro around the bag to keep it folded neatly. Perfect! I’ve always wanted an all-purpose reusable bag I can always carry in my handbag and this is it! I hate it when I have to make sudden trips to buy stuff and then be caught without a reusable bag because by then I’m left with the following options:
- Inconveniently carry the stuff around with my bare hands.
- Use the flimsy brown paper bag provided which will probably tear before I reach the car.
- Purchase a plastic bag and contribute to polluting the environment.
Hmm, I kinda want to put a RuMe bag inside the glove compartment of all our cars so I’m never without one. The price is at par with the US since a Rume Medium Bag costs US$9.95 there (then you have to add sales tax, it varies per state).
