I’m tired of being the old and frumpy fat girl. Several weeks before my 50th birthday, I decided to take control of my physical fitness and overall health. I had been feeling heavy and sluggish lately plus I slip and fall a lot at work. It’s partly because I’m clumsy and partly because the freaking store is like an obstacle course with slippery metal sheets on the floors at any given time. In case you’re wondering it’s my father-in-law’s roofing store and so slippery metal sheets all over the place are a daily thing.
I decided to take up Pilates. At my age, I felt it was the perfect fitness regimen since I wanted to improve my core strength, flexibility, and stability. I enrolled at Prana Movement Studio since the location is very convenient for me. I’ve actually tried doing an online session with them during the lockdown but given that I had zero Pilates experience, it was difficult. I initially got their Introductory Package (₱5,900 for three 1 on 1 sessions). As expected, I liked Pilates at Prana Movement Studio so I went on to sign up for 30 more 1 on 1 sessions. Group sessions are actually a lot cheaper (almost half the price) but I just prefer a more tailored, personalized approach. Maybe next time I can try joining their group sessions.
I love how Prana Movement Studio is updated and complete in terms of equipment. The place is also always immaculately clean. They are very meticulous when it comes to cleaning and sanitizing everything. The instructors are also all very experienced and knowledgeable. When you first sign up they will evaluate you to determine your level of flexibility, mobility, and strength. This is so they can customize a program for you which gradually goes up in terms of challenge level to meet your needs. I go 2x a week and it’s been nearly 2 months since I started.
Here are before and after photos. I am wearing the same clothes but as you can see the clothes are already loose by the 12th session. Of course, this is not due to Pilates alone. I also made dietary adjustments.
I’m very very happy with Prana Movement Studio and I can see myself continuing Pilates even after I reach my ideal weight (honestly I don’t even know what that is, I just want to fit into clothes that are not XL).
