So… Filipina pop star Sarah Geronimo finally launched her own makeup line. It’s fittingly called Pop Studio. Got my hands on the Pop Studio Album 01 Starter Set (P1,999) a while back and I’ve finally tried all eight (8) products that came with it. So how does it fare against other local celebrity makeup brands like BLK Cosmetics (Anne Curtis) and Vice Cosmetics (Vice Ganda)? Let’s find out.
Pop Studio was launched via a concert at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao last May 31, 2019.
It’s a complete makeup line from foundation to lipstick. Getting a Pop Studio Album Starter Set like the one above is probably the most economical and efficient way to get all the essentials. There are 3 sets available: 01 for Fair Skin, 02 for Medium Skin, and 03 for Dark Skin. I got 01. If you’re not sold on the set, you also have the option to buy the products individually.
So what does the Pop Studio Album Starter Set include? Well, there’s the Duets Mattifying & Coverage Powder 01 (P249).
The powders come in white and skin tone. Even at shade 01, the powder is a tad dark for me considering my face is lighter in tone compared to my hand.
Next up is the Covers Foundation Stick & Liquid Concealer 01 (P349).
I’m okay with the shades, both of which are lighter than the powder.
This is the Tones Blush & Contour 01 (P349). The blush looks really bright and the contour comes across as really dark.
They don’t look anywhere as extreme as they do on the pan when you swatch them though.
All of the products in this set are 2-in-1, that includes the Majors Brow Pencil & Mascara 02 Taupe (P299).
It’s a light to medium brown shade that will work for most brunettes. The mascara is the same shade as the pencil.
This is the mascara end of the wand.
The set also includes a Tempo Lip & Cheek Tint 02 (P299) and Hits Matte Lipstick 03 and Lip Balm (P249).
The colorless lip balm is in a tiny jar that’s screwed on to the bottom of the tube.
The tints I got are 02 Reds in terms of shade.
I tried going for a Korean gradient look with the tint but it’s not easy haha, but I do like the tint color I got.
Finally we’re at the last 2 products in the set — Falsetto Lengthening and Volume Mascara (P249) and Minors Liquid Eyeliner Pen Duo 01 (P249).
The mascara wand has 2 ends, one for lengthening and one for volumizing. This is actually the Pop Studio product I like the least because I went home with raccoon eyes when I used it. It smudges after a while. That said, I didn’t use it again.
The eyeliner pen has 2 ends as well. Both are felt tips, the only difference is the size.
I’m guessing the bigger tip is for lining the eyes… maybe creating cat eyes or wing tips. The smaller tip seems to be more for tightlining or using on the lower lids.
Here’s a photo of me using the following products: Covers Foundation Stick & Concealer, Majors Brow Pencil and Mascara 02 Taupe, Minors Eyeliner Duo, and Tempo Lip & Cheek Tint. I didn’t like the texture of the face powder so I used Althea Petal Velvet Powder instead.
Here’s my Pop Studio full makeup look. I used a different brand of mascara (I don’t want raccoon eyes), eye shadow (the set didn’t come with any), and powder (I didn’t like the texture).
What I like about the Pop Studio Album 01 Starter Set:
- I was expecting to hate the foundation stick because I’m not fond of foundation in general but it’s actually decent. It’s smooth, creamy, and easy to blend. Coverage is medium at the most. It works for me because I don’t really need full coverage at this point. The concealer is okay… nothing outstanding, at par with most drugstore concealers.
- Both the eyebrow pencil and eyebrow mascara are pretty good. The pencil has a smooth, crayon-like texture that makes drawing brows easier. Meanwhile, the mascara is subtle enough so you can use it without your brows getting overdone.
- I really like the lip and cheek tint. They are easy enough to apply and the shades I got look nice and natural.
- The eyeliner stays put even after several hours.
- The powder blush is average but I like the tint better.
- If you buy all the products in this set individually, it will set you back P2,292. You’ll be saving exactly P293 if you buy the set.
Downside? The mascara is pretty bad. It doesn’t really do much for your lashes and it smudges. I ended up with raccoon eyes some hours after I used it. I’m also not very happy with the texture of the powders. They look and feel cheap (well they are cheap). I would’ve liked for them to be smoother.
Pop Studio makeup products are available at the Pop Studio Official Store on Shopee. You can also get them from Watsons, SM Beauty, Lazada, and Beauty Beat.

Super Ganda ng review.. salamat po Miss Rowena.. another info po ulit. Godbless you more po.
I would to try the foundation . Your review makes me save money,i only buy make ups with a good review.
Madam did I get it right, the set is grouped according to skin tone so does it mean I cannot personalize the set based on the shades that I want if ever? Thanks…though the idea of 2-in-1 sounds economical and unique among other celebrity brands nevertheless thanks Madam for the honest and walang halong echos na review 🙂 🙂 🙂
Wow, ok naman po pala ang pop ni sarah g, pwera lang sa mascara at powder at mas affordable nga po, not bad at ang mura nga din po ng primer, nakapanuod nga po ako nga launch nito
I really enjoy reading reviews about makeup before I drop money on it … I’m a mom in my 40’s so I also am on the lookout for skincare products that help with aging & all the joys that come with it lol… I find makeup even at Walmart or any drug store it runs about the same but I am looking for some different types of brands to use … my favorite powder I like is the loose powder called Airspun by Coty, I like the way it smells & feels on my face & I had a hard finding a powder I liked too but this is one I find myself going back to
