I joined the great war for Taylor Swift last year and came out with Category 2 tickets for the National Stadium in Singapore. This year, one of my other much-anticipated artists, Lady Gaga, suddenly announced Singapore as the ONLY Asian stop for her Mayhem Tour. I had been waiting for Lady Gaga to go on tour again so I just couldn’t pass up the chance to attend her concert.
I’ve learned a lot from my Eras Tour booking experience last year. But to sum it up, if you want to get the best deals / save some money, you have to MOVE QUICKLY. I dilly-dallied after securing my concert package last year and waited a few days before booking plane tickets. Lo and behold, it was already US$500 per head when I booked after ticket-selling. Mayhem Tour ticket selling meanwhile, is not over yet. Today is actually the Singapore Airlines and Livenation Pre-Sales while tomorrow is the General Ticket Selling. What I did was, after securing my Lady Gaga concert package from Klook yesterday, I immediately booked flights. I was able to score US$296.50 per head roundtrip tickets to Singapore yesterday. When I checked today, the same tickets were already US$382.60 — that’s nearly US$100 difference in price!
When I was in SG last year, I also checked the locations of the *other* 5-star hotels in the Klook package. I didn’t bother with 4-star because if selling is going to be via Klook, I will always queue up for 5-star since it will surely have the shorter queue. The line is always 4x-5x longer in 4-star. My queue number for Eras Tour was 8,448 last year (5-star) when I checked 4-star it was at the 40,000+ mark. This time, my queue number was 1,550 for Mayhem Tour. I checked after I booked and 5-star was already at 4000+ while 4-star was at 16000+.
Last year, I picked Pan Pacific Orchard as my hotel in the Klook package. Due to the word Orchard in its name, I assumed it was on Orchard Road. Well, it wasn’t. It was actually located in a back street all by itself and it was kind of far from everything. Don’t get me wrong, the hotel was great and I’m happy to have experienced staying in it. It’s just that the location was bleh. I did see VOCO Orchard right across our window and VOCO Orchard was actually ON Orchard Road. This year, I opted for VOCO Orchard as our homebase for the Mayhem Tour. I screenshot all the included hotels so I can better check everything if ever I book concert tickets again in the future.
I’m also expecting a better view since I was able to get Category 1 tickets this time as opposed to last year’s Category 2 for the Eras Tour. Keeping my fingers crossed since I have no idea what row and seat I’m in. They’ll send the details to my Ticketmaster account in May is what they said.
Anyhow, I’ll keep ya’ll posted on how this goes.
