I got a Mary Kay At Play makeup set for review a couple of months ago. I know, I know… I’ve been delinquent. Beauty reviews require so much more time and effort. I’ve been so swamped with work lately I haven’t been able to focus on them. I’m working on it though.
Anyway, I got a set of Mary Kay At Play Lip & Cheek Stick (P499 each) and Mary Kay At Play Matte Liquid Lip Color (P599 each). These are my first Mary Kay products ever.
First, let’s take a look at the Mary Kay At Play Lip & Cheek Stick (P499). This is a multi-tasking product you can use on both the cheeks and the lips.
There are 3 shades available. They’re really pigmented and buildable so you can go as sheer or as heavy as you wish.
Next let’s check out the Mary Kay At Play Matte Liquid Lip Color (P599). I guess it’s Mary Kay’s answer to all the liquid matte lippies out there… think Kylie and Colourpop if you will.
There are 13 shades in all and I got 6 of them. I think it’s a good variety because I have everything from red to pink to purple.
So this is how the Lip & Cheek Stick in Peach Pop looks when applied lightly on the cheeks. I didn’t pile it on too much because I didn’t want to look like a clown. It’s like your own rosy skin but better, I like it.
This is the Matte Liquid Lip Color in Pink Me Up. It’s a tad too bright for my tastes but I really like how it glides on smoothly and dries to a matte finish flawlessly. The shades Pink It Over or Offbeat Orchid would’ve been more my style but unfortunately they were not included in the kit I received.
What I like about Mary Kay At Play Lip & Cheek Stick:
- It’s pigmented, buildable, and long-lasting.
- The look is natural… like you’re born with rosy cheeks.
- A little product goes a long way.
- Price is reasonable.
What I like about Mary Kay At Play Matte Liquid Lip Color:
- It’s super pigmented.
- It glides on smoothly and dries nicely to a matte finish.
- It’s not drying.
- Staying power is pretty good.
- Price is reasonable.
- There are over a dozen shades to choose from.
Downside? Mary Kay products are only available through independent beauty consultants. That said, you need to go to the Mary Kay Philippines website in order to get connected to one near you. I hope they make it possible to buy their products online. Personally I find it more convenient compared to having to set an appointment with a sales rep.
