I love all things Japanese. Japan is like one of my most favorite places in the world. So whenever we have anything crossing over from Japan to the Philippines, I’m always excited about it! A couple of months ago I blogged about Kumori Japanese Bakery, a stall at the SM Makati and Landmark food courts offering yummy Japanese-style breads and pastries. Guess what? They have something new and yummy that’s just wow… one of the yummy things I miss from Japan.
Introducing… the Toyohashi Pudding (P98)!
These daintily wrapped cups of heaven come in a nice box like this — perfect for gifting! Think creamy custard, except better, and in three variants: Original, Chocolate, and Green Tea.
I first tried the Original variant.
Kind of reminiscent of our very own leche flan but more milky and less egg-y.
Insanely creamy, smooth, and milky, it’s really one of the dreamiest things I’ve ever eaten. The Original variant has syrup at the bottom, so it’s best to eat it by scooping all the way down so the syrup and pudding can merge to give you a unique taste experience.
We also tried Chocolate and Green Tea. Chocolate has a rich, deep, and milky taste that’s not overly sweet. Green Tea has the authentic flavor of Japanese matcha so there is a hint of bitter tea which goes extremely well with the pudding’s milky goodness.
All the flavors are so good I can’t make up my mind which one I like best, lol!
Toyohashi Pudding is available for P98 per cup at Kumori Japanese Bakery located at LGF Landmark Makati and LGF SM Makati. They’re opening another one at SM North EDSA soon (this November, I think). I do hope they eventually find their way to Greenhills or Robinsons Magnolia!
