If it’s one beauty product I can’t be without it’s eye cream. At my age (two years till 40!), I can’t afford not to use one because I’m more prone to wrinkles and crow’s feet. Lines around the eye area have a way of making you look a lot older than you actually are so I intend to fight them off every step of the way.
One time I tweeted top make-up artist Xeng Zulueta to ask her what she thought the best eye cream was for dark undereye circles. She answered immediately — Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye. Thus, when Kiehl’s Manila gave me a tube to try last year, I was very very excited!
One tube of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye is 15ml. I started using it the first week of June 2012.
The cream is white and neither too thick nor too thin in consistency. It also has this aromatic slightly mentholated scent that is reminiscent of spas. I would apply a generous amount to my entire area every single morning and night on a daily basis — on the lids, under the eyes, at the edges where crow’s feet would normally form… the entire eye area. Wow, I was so amazed by how it felt on my skin. It was really soothing, cool, and kind of minty. I would best describe it as a spa treatment for your eyes.
I used Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye for the next six months. I had to stop for a month when I contracted sore eyes because I couldn’t put anything around my eyes except for the prescribed medication. My tube finally ran out in the third week of January 2013… so it lasted exactly 5.5 months. I made sure to take before and after photos so I could see the effect for myself. What do you think? I think my undereye circles lightened a bit. It’s not gone but there is at least improvement. The skin around my eyes is a lot smoother too. I think this is my longest test run ever as I finished the product to the very last bit before reviewing it.
I cut off the edge of the tube so I could get every last bit of product. I regularly use eye cream but I’m always changing from one brand to another so I have a lot of half-used ones on my dresser. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye is the first one I’ve ever finished. The cooling spa effect on my eye area is just too addictive to let go.
What I like about Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye:
- It feels cool, minty, and very soothing. It’s like a spa treatment for your eye area as I’ve repeatedly pointed out.
- I love the scent. It’s so relaxing, kind of like having aromatherapy as you go to sleep when you apply it at night.
- It lightened my dark undereye circles a bit after extended use. I would sleep very late at night and wake up very early in the morning throughout.
- The skin around my eye area is visibly smoother.
- It effectively prevented any lines or wrinkles from forming! Six months of use and my eye area is still line-free!
Downside? It’s a bit pricey at P2,250 but then you get what you pay for. Considering the length of time one tube lasted with my generous application 2x a day everyday for 5.5 months, that’s about P409 a month. Not bad… and yes, I would definitely repurchase this! Call me vain but I’m always willing to spend where my face is concerned, lol… and this is one of the best eye creams I’ve used.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye is available at Kiehl’s boutiques in SM Mall of Asia, Greenbelt 5, Power Plant Mall, Alabang Town Center, and Trinoma.
