I was invited to try out a new keratin treatment at Piandre Salon a couple of weeks ago. My hair is super abused because I color it a lot (thank goodness I’ve finally decided to stop rebonding) and so it’s very dry, damaged, and difficult to manage.
I did get a really nice haircut from Japanese stylist Shigeki of Shuji Kida Hair Salon recently though. I told him I did not want to have my hair straightened anymore and that I wanted a cut that would work with my natural hair texture… which is wavy. This was the result. I liked it! My hair was manageable even after I had shampooed (I apply Vitress Hair Polish afterwards) and air-dried my hair on my own.
Anyway, when I went to Piandre at BGC that day, the foreign principals of Keratin Complex were there. I remember telling them I wanted to smoothen my hair but I didn’t want the stick straight look most people end up with. I’m really done with rebonding and straightening. I really just want to work with what I have. I was told I needed to first have the Vanilla Bean Deep Conditioning Treatment (P1,100 for long hair) done before I could try the keratin.
As with most salon treatments, the first thing they did was shampoo my hair. Then they applied a generous amount of Keratin Complex Infusion Therapy Vanilla Bean Deep Conditioner. They let it stay on my hair for maybe 20 mins before it was rinsed off. My hair was surprisingly easy to comb afterwards.
After the Vanilla Bean Conditioner was washed off, I told them I did not want my hair to become stick straight. I was told that Express Blowout by Keratin Complex was the recommended treatment for me — it’s a smoothing treatment which lasts for 4-6 weeks. The best thing about it is you can shampoo your hair just after 8 hours.
Then my hair was ironed once. They divided my hair into larger and thicker so the body would be retained and it would not become stick straight.
I was done in 90 minutes — 2 treatments at that, the Vanilla Bean Deep Conditioning Treatment and the Express Blowout by Keratin Complex. True enough my hair did not become stick straight.
Thanks Marj for taking a pic of the back of my head, lol! Yes I have tricolor hair lol.
This is a photo my hair around a week after. It’s not straight and that’s how I like it but it’s also not dry, frizzy, and unmanageable. It’s just tame and natural-looking.
It’s been almost 2 weeks after the treatment and my hair is still nice and easy to manage. If you want a straightening effect, tell the stylist so they can iron smaller, thinner portions of hair.
The Express Blowout by Keratin Complex starts at P2,500 for short hair. I think my hair is considered long and my length would cost around P4,500.
