We eat out on most weekends, since nobody really cooks at home. During the lockdown I was cooking every meal every day. I keep washing my hands when I’m cooking, I don’t know if that has any effect. Anyway, after a month or so, I felt my fingers stiffen. The only difference in my routine was all the cooking because our helper left. So I quit. I resigned myself to ordering viands during the weekdays and only cooking rice via our rice cooker.
We dined at Fei Fei by Choi Garden along White Plains a little over a week ago. This is Choi Garden’s casual dining restaurant. It’s not a lauriat setting although they do have a couple of function rooms with round tables and lazy susans. I liked how bright and cheery the place is. There’s lots of natural light via the big glass windows. Parking spaces are abundant as well, although I’d still advise you to go early.
We tried Fei Fei’s HK Style drinks, namely HK Milk Tea, HK Iced Lemon Tea, and Yin Yang. They all cost ₱180 each. The Iced Lemon Tea was nice and refreshing. As per my son, Yin Yang (half tea, half coffee) was also good. The HK Milk Tea however was way too sweet. I left feedback at the restaurant so I hope they can fix it.
As for the food, started off with Salted Fish Chicken Fried Rice (₱480). This is probably the best one we’ve tried as it’s not too salty. It was cooked perfectly. Even the rice grains used are of good quality.
Xiao Long Bao (₱200 for 4 pcs) was also surprisingly good.
Everyone was especially impressed by the Hakaw (₱200) which was super filled with plump juicy shrimp.
Mapo Tofu (₱520) was another surprise. We requested for a less spicy version due to my son’s acid reflux and they obliged. The sauce is very tasty without being too spicy and the tofu silky. We loved drizzling this all over rice. Too good!
Salt and Pepper Squid (₱680) was very garlicky, just the way I like it. The squid pieces are big and satisfying too.
Like the Hakaw, the Hot Prawn Salad (₱780) was comprised of plump juicy shrimps.
3 Kinds Combination (₱1,180) lets you choose which roasts you’ll be served. We opted for Lechon Macau, Roast Duck, and Asado. If it were all up to me I’d order all Lechon Macau since it’s very meaty and the skin is crispy.
Birthday Noodles (₱580) is a good carb alternative if you don’t want to order more rice. The serving is very generous and they cook it well. It’s loaded with quail eggs, seafood, veggies, and meat pieces.
For dessert we tried Almond Lychee and Chilled Mango Sago, both priced at ₱160 each. I liked the Almond Lychee better, it’s more refreshing especially after feasting on all the tasty food.
All in all we were very happy with our Fei Fei by Choi Garden experience. Food was served hot and freshly cooked. Serving portions are big and satisfying. Flavors are on point. This location is also a lot more convenient than going to the mall if you just want a good meal. They also have a branch in Uptown BGC in case you’re at the south side of town.
