A few weeks ago, I attended a very interesting event by Amway Home. It was all about cleaning products that we use in the house. Research in the Philippines indicates that detergents and cleaning agents are among the biggest pollutants of water due to their high solvent content. The domestic and industrial sectors produce about 2.2 million metric tons of water pollution yearly… and that’s the last thing our country needs.
Anyhow, Dr. Phil Sliva, Senior Research Scientist and Chemist for Amway Home Care Product Development, explained how Amway Home aims to change this bleak scenario by coming up with completely biodegradable and safe cleaning products using natural ingredients.
Amway Home has come up with the following products for Filipino households:
- Amway Home Dish Drops – A triple-action dishwashing liquid that effectively removes grease and food stains. It contains aloe vera and it’s phosphate-free so it’s gentle on both the skin and the environment.
- Amway Home SA8 Concentrated All Fabric Bleach – It contains oxygen, so it’s safe for all color fast washable garments unlike chlorine bleach.
- Amway Home SA8 Premium Concentrated Laundry Detergent – It has superior dissolving action even in cold water due to Exploding Crystals Technology. It contains a unique blend of biological enzymes, biodegradable surfactants, and natural water softener to effectively remove stains and dirt.
- Amway Home LOC Multi-Purpose Cleaner – A mild, no-rinse cleanser that’s strong enough for grease and dirt, versatile enough to clean all kinds of surfaces including floors, and mild enough for the hands. It leaves no residue and it’s also biodegradable.
Dr. Sliva showed us comparisons between the leading brands and Amway Home products. The jar on the right in the photo above contains the SA8 detergent. It dissolves faster and is clearer than the leading brand on the left. As a result it leaves no residue on fabrics.
Amway Home products are all concentrated so you only need to use a little to get the same (actually even better) results as the leading brand. The blue scoop contains the SA8 detergent while the white one contains the leading brand’s. A little goes a long way, so in the long run it’s more economical to use Amway Home products as one package can easily last for 6 months.
Dr. Sliva also brought out a PH tester just to show how safe these products are for the skin. I will be testing these cleaning products in my own home so I’ll keep you posted on how effective they are for me. I like the idea of using earth-friendly products because I really want to do my part in taking care of the environment. 🙂
