It’s no secret that we love buffets. After all, it’s the one place where everyone can eat whatever he/she wants without having to worry about the others. We even control the portions so we can taste everything we find interesting. For me, paying a flat rate for access to such a wide and diverse selection of food gives the best value for money. My father-in-law celebrated his birthday quite recently. My mother-in-law told us she had a BDO credit card which gave her birthday priveleges at Marriott Hotel. They celebrate their birthdays on the same month so both of them could avail.
I was surprised by the Birthday Priveleges you could avail of at Marriott Hotel with a BDO credit card. You can actually get 50% off their lunch, brunch, and dinner buffets. You can also check in the hotel for half the usual price!
So off we went to enjoy the Marriott dinner buffet at Marriott Cafe. It was a weeknight so we only needed to pay P1,075 per head. That’s really cheap considering it’s Marriott Hotel.
My favorite section is probably the salad station. They had all sorts of ready-to-eat salads plus you could also make your own. I love salad. I can eat it everyday.
This is the seafood section. They had crabs, mussels, and prawns. You can have fresh seafood cooked the way you want.
There’s a chinese section complete with roasts, a noodle station, and dimsum. It was perfect for my father-in-law who prefers Chinese food.
They had siomai, hakaw, spareribs, etc.
There was also a Filipino food section which had Bulalong Batangas and Seafood Sinigang.
Other Filipino dishes were Pork Pochero, Bistek Tagalog, Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa, Adobo, etc.
The carving station had a hunk of Beef Rump and an array of sauces. I was also able to get Papadams and other Indian goodies at an adjacent area. There were also soups, viands, and rice dishes.
Dessert is my favorite course and the Marriott dinner buffet has a lot — fresh fruits, a chocolate fountain…
I loved the Ginataang Halo-Halo!
Like other buffet places, there was an assortment of cakes.
A must-try is Marriott Cafe’s homemade gelato. There are flavors like Palawan Walnut, Coconut, Black Forest, etc. There are over a dozen flavors at any given time and they change — so there’s always something new and different to try.
This is the complimentary drink of the month and complimentary cake that comes with the Birthday Priveleges promo of Marriott and BDO.
At P1,075 per head, the Marriott dinner buffet was worth it. The buffet even includes coffee or tea to go with your dessert should you want it. While the spread is a bit smaller compared to hotels like EDSA Shangri-la and restaurants like Vikings, the place is pretty upscale and the food is still hotel quality. There are stations where you can customize your salad, pasta, meat, seafood, etc. We definitely had a nice dinner. I’d think twice if it were double the price though, because at over P2k per head we can probably find a place with more food choices.
The Marriott and BDO Birthday Priveleges promo is ongoing until December 30, 2018. You can check the full promo mechanics HERE.
