One of the things I really wanted to do in Seoul was to go for a legitimate Personal Color Analysis. I checked Klook and there were a lot of establishments offering the service. I finally settled on doing it with PIC Color Branding. They have several patents and they actually invented a gadget called the Colorimeter which they use to determine your skintone. Needless to say I found their credentials most impressive so I booked a 2:1 session for my daughter and I. I paid ₱14,000+ for 2 people which is cheaper compared to having it done in the Philippines.
I booked the earliest session which was at 9:30am. We used Naver Map to navigate and the building was easy enough to find. It was about a 10-minute walk from the train station but the neigborhood was so lovely and peaceful we enjoyed the stroll. I wanted to get it done as early as possible so we can go shopping for makeup and clothes afterwards. We were each handed color charts. Our color analysis session was to be facilitated by Director Gloria.
We were both draped with so many colors — different seasons, different shades and temperatures. In the end, it was determined that I was Winter Dark / Winter Deep. Red and yellow do not suit me. It’s goodbye pastels too, especially peach.
PIC Color Branding has a device called the Colorimeter which they use to measure your skintone. It was determined that my Korean face makeup shade is 21N. I would put this knowledge to good use later on, but that’s for another blog post.
After our personal colors were determined, Director Gloria came out with customized makeup shade recommendations. My best makeup shades are in the mauve and plum shades. For my daughter it was more of peach and warm hues.
We were asked to go into the session bare-faced so we were totally makeup-free. After determining our colors, Director Gloria applied our best lip shades on us, teaching us which shades to use as the base and point.
It’s amazing what the correct shade of lipstick can do! We were floored by how put together we suddenly looked just with lipstick application!
Your best shade of lipstick should brighten your features and make your teeth look whiter. As per Director Gloria, the colors on the left are my best shades and those on the right are my worst.
These are my best and worst lipstick shades. Coral is out lol.
Our session lasted 2 hours. We found out our best colors for clothes, makeup, accessories (including jewelry)… since most of my clothes are black, I’m happy that black is included in my best colors. We got to take home our color chart and color cards. They are really handy for quick reference.
