As a writer, I get assigned to the spa beat ever so often. The ironic part is, I’m not really a spa person by any measure. My body does not crave massages, thus I hardly ever visit the spa out of my own accord. Just as well I guess, as I can be more objective about the treatments I write about.
My latest spa adventure took me to Marriott Manila’s Quan Spa. The reception area (pictured above) reminded me of a high-end department store in Hong Kong. Various spa products were displayed, and the staff courteously told me to take a seat as they got everything ready.
I was ushered into Quan Spa’s lounge where I was given a welcome drink made of fresh pineapple juice and ginger. It was very cold and refreshing. I was also asked to fill out a health questionnaire to help determine which treatment would best suit me. I was scheduled for the Seaweed Detoxifier — more on that in the June issue of Health Today Magazine… hehe. 😀
Quan Spa’s treatment rooms are very impressive. In fact they make almost every other spa I’ve been to seem shabby in comparison. There are single treatment rooms, a couples room (pictured above, right), a bathing suite equipped with a tub and a big LCD TV, and a reflexology lounge. Each treatment room has its own toilet, shower, and dressing area (pictured above, left) complete with amenities like combs, disposable underwear, shower caps, robes, towels, slippers… you don’t have to bring anything except yourself.
I particularly liked the bright and happy-looking reflexology lounge (pictured above) where all hand and foot treatments are conducted. The least expensive service you can have here is the Spa Foot Ritual (P1500 for 45 minutes) which consists of a foot bath, exfoliation, massage, and detoxification using black Moor mud.
Quan Spa has a relaxation lounge (pictured above) where you can lay back, relax, and even sleep right after your treatment.
You will also be given a pot of hot tea, which is really the perfect way to cap off an hour or two of pampering.
