Like it or not, things have a way of accumulating over the days, weeks, months, and years. I remember having maybe a decade worth of stuff carted away by trucks some years ago. No matter how hard I try, our home can never really be clutter-free. I used to just throw away or give away stuff, but I’ve realized that I can actually sell things that I’ve kept in excellent condition.
Then I came across the Shopee app. I downloaded it via Google Play since I’m an Android phone user. If you’re on iOS, you can also get it from the App Store.
I registered for a Shopee account and I immediately got this welcome coupon for P150 off my first order. You can too — simply download Shopee on your mobile device and sign up for an account.
Signing up is easy and takes less than 5 minutes. All you need is a username and a cellphone number. Later on you can link your account to your e-mail and social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
As the app name suggests, Shopee is a virtual community of buyers and sellers. You can buy and sell all sorts of stuff at Shopee. It’s very convenient because you don’t need anything else except your mobile device — you can sell directly from your Instagram account, photo gallery, or camera. You can do everything simple by pressing a few buttons. You can also chat with potential merchants and customers via the app. It’s all so easy and convenient!
Shortly after getting an account I tried uploading an item I wanted to sell. It’s Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago’s book Stupid is Forever. I bought it at National Bookstore a while back. I was convinced by the online hype… it seemed everyone was getting a copy. Now I find Senator Miriam to be a very witty and quotable individual but reading random quips just isn’t my idea of fun and entertainment and so I’ve decided to let this book go as part of my house de-cluttering effort. I just took a photo of it with my cellphone’s camera and uploaded it to Shopee.
You can buy and sell anything under the sun at Shopee, in fact both brand new and pre-loved items can be bought and sold.
Here I’m trying to sell my limited edition Team Manila shirt. It was given to me a while back but it’s not my size and to it’s still brand spanking new and unused. I was surprised when someone bought it shortly after I posted it so it’s already marked as “sold out”. I was browsing through other sellers’ offerings and I have my eye on some Japanese Kitkat which I might purchase later on after I sell some of my own stuff.
I think I’ll be trying to find more things to post at home, hopefully Shopee can help me de-clutter and convert some of my idle stuff into cash. 😀
