Yesterday was a special day for all of us. Hubby’s youngest sister was finally getting married! Both my kids were part of the entourage and well we all had to look our best since we were the host family.
Anyhow, I was at Shuji Kida Hair Salon by 9am because I can’t style my hair to save my life. The wedding ceremony was going to be held at San Agustin Church at 1:30pm — I knew it was going to be super hot and humid so I opted for an updo so I didn’t have to worry about my hair. The stylist arrived at almost 9:30am… oh the stress. I had to be in Manila Hotel (the reception venue) before 12nn because we were going to take some family pictures. Fortunately she worked fast and I was done in less than an hour.
I got home at 10:30am and I didn’t even have an hour for makeup because we were told to be in Manila Hotel before 12nn. I had to do a rush makeup job on myself. I could’ve done better but I simply did not have the time! Anyway, I used three kinds of primers to make sure my makeup would last for 12 hours. I will tell you ALL about it and how exactly I did my makeup in a separate post.
Of course I had to photograph myself under natural light to see if the makeup was okay. No more contouring, I simply did not have the time. I used products from K-Palette, Inglot, The Balm, Happy Skin, Shiseido, Etude House, Burt’s Bees, Fairydrops, and Nurturing Force. Somehow when you see the photo it doesn’t seem that many hahahaha. Please do wait for my detailed FOTD post.
This makeup look is what Bianca Valerio would refer to as “Boy Pretty”. In one beauty event, Bianca talked about two kinds of makeup looks — Boy Pretty and Girl Pretty. The Boy Pretty look is basically the no makeup look because believe it or not, most men like it better when women don’t look like they have a million products on their face. I have a million products on my face but I don’t look it, lol — that’s the important thing. Girl Pretty is when you do makeup to experiment with the latest shade of pantone purple or whatever color is in. It’s when you come in with three-toned avant garde hombre lips… you get the picture. It will impress the hell out of your makeup-loving girlfriends but boys won’t get it.
I was wearing earrings by Merci Jewelry. These are the “Quinn” drop earrings. I bought this exact pair a few days before the wedding. Almost everyone who saw me noticed them! I’m not surprised because they’re so pretty! Would you believe I got them for P2,350? Merci Jewelry pieces are made of Cubic Zirconia stones and 925 silver coated with Rhodium to prevent tarnishing and discoloration. Check out Merci Jewelry on Facebook.
I also bought a pair of Melissa Estrelicia 4-inch heels because my gown was very long, lol. They cost P4,995. They’re comfy, but not after 12 hours of wearing them lol. In fairness, I lasted maybe 5 hours pain-free.
I wore a gown by designer Bong De Ocampo who was highly recommended by a good friend of mine. I really loved my gown. Most of the people who saw it thought it was lovely too. It’s very reasonably priced at P6,000.
Here’s a better photo, haha.
Here’s a group pic with the bride and groom! It’s the first Chinese-Estonian wedding we’ve ever witnessed! In this photo are my sister and her hubby (on my left), hubby (on my right), our kids, and my sister-in-law (bride) and brother-in-law (groom).
My makeup was pretty much intact after 12 hours. I promise to make a detailed post about it. 😀
Lol, this is probably the closest I’ll ever get to an OOTD.
