My hair is really the worst. I’ve come to a point where I’m tired of getting it rebonded but as is it’s very hard to style and manage. The roots at the back of my head are kinky, everything else is a mix of wavy and straight-ish plus the texture is thick and coarse. Thus when I was invited for JURO Salon Exclusif’s latest treatment, Japanese Blowout, I immediately said yes. I was ready to try anything that would not entail rebonding my hair for the umpteenth time.
Before I go on, here’s a brief background on Juro Salon Exclusif. It’s called JURO because of the owners Jude Hipolito and Rose Velasco. Jude Hipolito is the ONLY Vidal Sassoon-certified hair stylist in the Philippines as of now while Rose Velasco is a professional colorist in every sense of the word. She has an eye for hair (well the both do), able to determine which hair color would suit your skin tone best in a glance.
So here I am with the roots getting curly and all. The bottom part was rebonded so it’s straight-ish.
The staff immediately provided a place where I could put my bag and then offered me something to drink. I opted for some hot tea.
Ms. Rose inspected my hair and decided it was too brassy. She told me that prior to the Japanese Blowout, she would be adjusting my hair color to a more ash tone using L’oreal INOA which is ammonia-free.
Everything, whether hair color, hair cut, or Japanese Blowout starts with getting your hair shampooed.
So that morning I had L’oreal INOA coloring and Japanese Blowout.
For Japanese Blowout, an anti-frizz treatment is applied to your hair first for 5-10 minutes. This is considered the softening phase.
After the anti-frizz is rinsed off, a nice-smelling cream which they refer to as “nutrients” is applied all over your hair. This too is rinsed off after 10 minutes or so. Your hair is now shampooed.
Then I had my hair cut by the Jude Hipolito himself. He had been studying my hair texture and condition earlier on and I told him my hair is so unmanageable it’s always tied up in a ponytail or something. Lol. He said my hair doesn’t even make his list of of top ten most difficult to style.
So after the cut, my hair was blowdried and ironed. The ironing serves to seal in the nutrients within the strands.
Remember how I always do a shampoo test after any treatment my hair undergoes? I did one for JURO’s Japanese Blowout too. You can only shampoo your hair 24 hours after the Japanese Blowout. My hair is wavy right? Because that is the natural texture of my hair. Are you surprised? Here are some facts about Juro’s Japanese Blowout:
- JURO’s Japanese Blowout is NOT a straightening service and is not meant to take the place of rebonding if you want stick straight hair.
- It’s a treatment that repairs hair damage, leaving you with soft, frizz-free, shiny, and healthy hair.
- It works with your hair texture and shape, like if your hair is curly, it remains curly but it’s easy to manage and style.
- It did get rid of the kinky roots at the back of my head so yay!
Thanks to JURO’s Japanese Blowout I no longer have to keep tying my hair back because it’s sabog or messy. I can wear my hair down with its natural shape. The treatment plus Jude’s cut makes blowdrying endlessly a thing of the past too. I can just dry my hair and it’s like that, no more complicated styling rituals. I feel so relaxed these days, I used to need to allocate time to blow dry my hair to some semblance of style but now no more. It’s a nice change from my usual stick straight rebonded look too. I can even adjust if I want it more or less wavy just by styling with my fingers, lol.
By now you’ve probably heard that getting your hair done at JURO is pricey. That is true especially if you compare with other Philippine salons, but Jude and Rose themselves attend to ALL customers personally whether they’re getting their hair cut, colored, or whatever. You’re really in the best hands at JURO Salon Exclusif. I suggest calling them or scheduling a visit for a consultation so you know what you’re getting in to beforehand. As for me, if I can have problem-free hair I’m willing to pay so I will most probably be back after a few months since the Japanese Blowout’s effect is supposed to last anywhere from 3-5 months.
I’m so happy to be able to wear my hair like this. I suggest setting an appointment so you can be accommodated. You won’t believe how full this salon gets even on weekdays.

Let’s stay connected:
it seems like you never went back to Juro Salon… why?
It’s because I can get the same level of expertise at a lower cost in Shuji Kida Hair Salon. I always have my hair cut by the Japanese stylist Shigeki and it’s only P2,500 versus Jude Hipolito’s P7k.
