A smile is probably the cheapest (free!) and most efficient accessory a person can have. Smiling immediately brightens up your face and prettifies you in a flash. That said, it’s really really important to take good care of your teeth.
A nice set of teeth makes a smile so much more impactful, which is why I put as much importance to proper oral hygiene as I do skin care. I brush my teeth regularly, I use a dental floss, and I go to the dentist for a check-up and professional cleaning every six months. As I’ve mentioned some time ago, we’ve added another step to our personal dental care here at home…
We (that’s hubby, the kids, and I) chew 5g of Xylitol (about two pellets) everyday — more actually, since we always chew after meals. But what exactly is Xylitol? It’s a 100% natural sweetener derived from natural sources such as birch trees, berries, and vegetables. It’s almost as sweet as sugar but with 40% less calories. It’s widely used as a sweetener in products aimed to improve oral health. Chewing Xylitol gum everyday has been scientifically proven to reduce the incidence of tooth decay. It not only helps prevent tooth decay, it helps rebuild teeth too. I’m pretty confident all of us will be cavity-free when we go for our next dental appointment.
As a mom, it’s my responsibility to take care of my children’s teeth. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure so I got my kids started on regular dental visits and good brushing habits as soon as their first tooth set in. Xylitol has some helpful tools you can download for this purpose — there’s a Teeth Care Chart, a Primary Teeth Tracker, and a Permanent Teeth Tracker just to name a few. You can access them at http://lottexylitolgum.com/download/. These are really useful for monitoring your children’s dental health. Dentists use similar charts to keep tabs on your teeth every check-up.
Xylitol comes in four flavors: Blueberry Mint, Fresh Mint, Lime Mint, and Strawberry Mint. My personal favorites are Lime Mint and Strawberry Mint. Prices start at around P15+ for the 8-pc. blister pack. The bigger the pack you get, the more economical it becomes since the price per pellet goes down.
Have you tried Xylitol? Here’s your chance! Make it zero with Xylitol by joining this easy contest where five (5) readers can win gift packs containing lots and lots of Xylitol!
